All-Play Record
What is All-Play Record?
All-Play Record shows how many teams in the league a manager would have beaten each week based purely on points scored. Instead of only comparing against the one assigned opponent, it compares each team's score against every other team in the league that week.
In a 12-team league, each team has 11 potential matchups per week. If a team scored the 3rd-highest score that week, their all-play record for that week is 9-2 — they would have beaten 9 teams and lost to 2.
Why All-Play Record matters
Head-to-head records can be misleading. A team can score the second-highest points in the league for a week but still lose if they happened to face the highest scorer. All-Play Record removes this schedule dependency entirely.
Over a full season, All-Play Record is one of the best measures of roster quality independent of schedule luck. A team that consistently beats 8-9 of 11 opponents each week has a strong roster regardless of their actual win-loss record.
How it's calculated
Each week, every team's score is compared against every other team's score:
- Teams Beat This Week: Count of opponents the team would have defeated
- Teams Lost To This Week: Count of opponents who scored higher
Season All-Play Record sums these weekly counts. A team's All-Play win percentage is:
All-Play Win % = Total Teams Beat / Total Possible Matchups
In a 12-team league over 14 weeks, each team has 11 x 14 = 154 all-play matchups.
All-Play vs. Actual Record
Comparing All-Play Record to actual record reveals schedule luck:
| Actual Record | All-Play Record | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| 10-4 | .750 all-play | Deserved the record — strong team |
| 10-4 | .500 all-play | Very lucky — average team with a favorable schedule |
| 6-8 | .700 all-play | Very unlucky — strong team with a brutal schedule |
| 6-8 | .400 all-play | Deserved the record — below-average team |
Connection to opponent All-Play
The system also tracks Opponent Teams Beat This Week — how many teams your opponent would have beaten. This measures the strength of the opponent you faced, independent of whether you won or lost the actual matchup.
