Fantasy Football FAQ
What is LAMAR in fantasy football?
LAMAR (League-Adjusted Measure Above Replacement) measures how many fantasy points a player scores above replacement level. It accounts for positional scarcity — a QB who scores 20 points has different value than an RB who scores 20 points because the replacement-level QB scores higher than the replacement-level RB. Learn more about LAMAR methodology.
How are half PPR rankings calculated?
In half PPR (0.5 points per reception), each reception adds 0.5 fantasy points to a player's score. Rankings are based on total fantasy points including this reception bonus, with LAMAR adjusting for positional replacement level.
What is replacement level in fantasy football?
Replacement level is the performance of the best freely available player at a position — the player you could pick up from waivers. In a 12-team league with 2 RB slots, the replacement-level RB is roughly the 24th best RB (since 24 are rostered). Any RB scoring above that level provides positive value.
Standard vs half PPR vs full PPR — what's the difference?
Standard scoring awards no bonus for receptions. Half PPR adds 0.5 points per catch. Full PPR adds 1.0 point per catch. This significantly affects player rankings — high-volume receivers (PPR) or between-the-tackles runners (Standard) gain or lose relative value depending on the format.
How are optimal lineups calculated?
Optimal lineups show the best possible roster you could have fielded each week, using the standard roster template (1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX, 1 K, 1 DEF). For each week, the algorithm selects the highest-scoring players per position slot, then fills FLEX with the best remaining RB/WR/TE.
What data is available in Research Mode?
Research Mode provides NFL player statistics from 1920 to present. Modern data (1999+) includes advanced metrics like EPA, CPOE, target share, and air yards. Historical data includes basic stats (yards, touchdowns, receptions). All data is sourced from NFLverse.
How is Research Mode different from importing my league?
Research Mode uses standardized league settings to calculate LAMAR and rankings. When you import your league, you get LAMAR calculated with your exact scoring rules, roster slots, and number of teams — plus manager-specific analytics like draft grades, trade analysis, and head-to-head records.
